History

Department of Corrections Credit Union founder

Founded in 1957 by William H. Ruff, the Department of Corrections Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization established with the mission to provide financial services, products, and knowledge necessary to meet members’ financial goals. The Board of Directors and the Management Team strive to provide an affordable source of credit in an ever-changing economic environment and help educate our members to make sound financial decisions. The individual personal service and care that employees provide to our members are what distinguishes DOCCU from other financial institutions.

Throughout the past several years, DOCCU has come a long way in becoming a full-service financial institution by expanding products and services beyond traditional savings and loans. These products and services – checking accounts, ATM/debit cards, electronic payments & debits, just to name a few – were designed to be affordable to all members while maintaining competitive dividends on savings, checking, certificates, and IRAs. We serve 12,000+ members through nine (9) locations and 20+ credit union-owned ATMs.

If you are already a member, remember – this is YOUR credit union! Please take advantage of all of the benefits that come with membership in the Department of Corrections Credit Union.

If you are not a DOCCU member, please click on “How to Join” in the menu to your left.

One of the great benefits of membership is that once you join, you’re a member for life – even if you retire or join another employer!

USA Patriot Act

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information identifying each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: when you open an account or make changes to an existing account, we will ask for your name, a street address, date of birth, and an identification number, such as a social security number. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents that will allow us to identify you. We appreciate your cooperation.
